Developing a successful sales strategy for China requires knowledge of the local market and constant exchange with local experts. Forecasts from the IMF suggest that China's economy will continue to grow. The October estimates point to an increase of 3.2% for 2022, which would represent another record high - and this trend is likely to continue. China is expected to replace the US as the largest economy in the next ten years.

Expansion into and within China still bears potential and market opportunities, even under the current circumstances with decoupling ideas, requests for diversification, and investment relocation. Establishing a solid structure in the Chinese market involves one or two "finesses" that companies should be aware of in advance and might require strategic adjustments to current business plans and strategies. Due to the complexity and size of the market, it is therefore common practice to work with a local partner.

To gain an independent foothold on the Chinese market, a permanent local presence is advisable, if not indispensable. For many companies, willing to expand, this has not only been difficult to realise since around 2020, i.e., the beginning of the Corona pandemic. In addition to working with local distributors and representatives, the attractiveness of joint ventures has increased strongly again. They enable investment options and expansion opportunities - especially for SMEs and particularly when the partnership is based on mutual trust and takes place at eye-level.

In this webinar, experts of Melchers China will present options on how European SMEs can position their sales setup in China for the coming years, leverage the function of Hong Kong, and capitalize on the opportunities the Greater Chinese market offers, by introducing successful joint venture setups from various industries.
