This event is organised by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong

Without innovation there is no progress. This credo applies to every company, whether a start-up or a multinational corporation.

In this lunch seminar, we will learn about what drives companies to put their innovations into practice, what benefits these innovations have for themselves and, above all, what benefits these innovations have for society.

Esteemed speakers from renowned Swiss companies will share their innovative thinking within their companies.

CEO & Founder of Intensel Ltd.

Dr. Benz is the CEO and Founder of Intensel Limited, a global award-winning AI-powered climate science for predicting financial risk related to weather extremes and climate change. Her company consults some of the largest corporations in Asia such as Jardine Matheson Group, Hang Lung Properties, ING Bank SG etc on the financial and operational impact of climate risk for the real estate sector and infrastructure.
Besides, since 2008, she serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Finance, HKUST Business School, teaching a variety of courses such as Fixed Income Securities and Derivatives, Investment Analysis, ESG/Sustainable Investing (since 2014) mainly for Master level. For more than 15years, Dr. Benz has been acting as consultant/advisor/executive trainer on ESG and Impact Investing for various institutions such as Citibank, JP Morgan, DBS, CLSA, Robecco, San Paolo Intensa, Morgan Stanley, Tencent etc. She has held executive seminars for IMD Institute, Switzerland, NY Stern, Kellog University and is a frequent speaker in large scale conferences such as The Economist, and the like. Previously, she worked for UBS Investment Bank in Hong Kong, and a Fund of Hedge Funds in Geneva, Switzerland etc.

Currently, she sits on the board of VEIL Fund (LSE listed) of Dragon Capital Group Limited, the Board of Advisors of International Care Ministries (ICM), as well as the Friend of Earth NGO Advisory Board.

Her publications and Harvard Business Review cases studies are on ESG integration, physical and transitional climate risk impact on company performance in general, China A-Shares, Asia-based companies etc. Previous academic research is on Portfolio Optimization with Credit Default Risk, as well as Venture Capitalist contract pricing using numerical simulations techniques.

She graduated with a PhD in Financial Asset Management and Engineering (FAME /Swiss Finance Institute) from HEC – University of Lausanne, Switzerland, also holds an MPhil in International Economics from HEI- Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland and a Finance Certificate postgraduate degree from Linacre College, Oxford University.

Dr. Norman Chan

Specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism

Dr. Norman Chan is an Endocrinologist in the private sector, a Director of the Norton Medical Laboratory and an honorary associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Born in Wuhan, China, Dr. Chan moved to Hong Kong at a young age and then studied in the UK. He graduated from Liverpool University in 1991 and completed his post-graduate training in London. He obtained his MD in 2002 (in London) and was awarded a Fellowship of Royal College of Physician (Glasgow) in 2006. His MD thesis was in "Endothelial dysfunction in Type 1 diabetes".

Dr. Chan began his private practice in HK in 2002 when he helped to establish the Qualigenics Diabetes Centre, the first private diabetes centre in Hong Kong. He has since opened his own clinic in 2012 in Central. In addition, he has run an Endocrine clinic in Pudong, Shanghai since 2009.

Dr. Chan has published several book chapters, as well as numerous scientific papers in well recognised international medical journals such as the Lancet.

Based in Hong Kong, Benno Jaeggi is active in Egon Zehnder’s Financial Services and FinTech practices with a particular focus on Investment Banking and Markets.

He leverages his deep experience in Corporate Banking, Sales & Trading, Capital Markets and FinTech as a respected advisor to clients in Hong Kong and across Asia. Before joining Egon Zehnder, Benno was an executive with the ANXONE cryptocurrency exchange, one of the largest digital asset businesses in Asia.

Prior to that he spent more than a decade in Wholesale Banking and on the Markets trading floors at ABN AMRO, RBS and ANZ Bank, most recently as the Global COO for Distribution and Origination board member of Balance Health Limited, a holistic health and corporate wellness business advising individuals and corporate clients across Asia.

Benno began his career as a venture capital analyst. Benno earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration and IT management from the University St. Gallen in Switzerland and an MBA in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
