In the past few months, fundamental changes to the China Individual Income Tax (IIT) system were finalised and implemented with effect from 1 January 2019. Some of the proposed changes were eye-catching and controversial during the public consultation process, but not all of them were included in the final legislation. The changes will affect not only residents but also frequent business travellers to China.

In this seminar, we will discuss:

  • Overview and main changes of the IIT reform
  • Potential impact to individuals and companies under the IIT reform
  • How individuals and companies may act upon the changes brought about by the IIT reform
