Four decades have passed since Deng Xiaoping's "Open Door Policy" kick-started China's opening up to the world. President Xi Jinping has promised that the country's doors will continue to open "wider and wider" to foreign trade and investment. But, faced with an ongoing trade war, grand industrial ambitions, and a slowing economy, will China keep its word?

In this seminar, Stefan Kracht, Managing Director of Fiducia Management Consultants, will walk us through the open doors and firewalls that international companies face when setting up or expanding their business in China today.

Some of the topics covered in the seminar:

Trade:

  • Is there a silver lining to the Sino-US trade war?
  • Beyond tariffs: navigating less visible trade barriers

Market access:

  • Is "Made in China 2025" skewing the playing field?
  • Liberalisation of financial and automotive sectors: how far will China go?

Ease of doing business:

  • The business cost of China's "Great Firewall"
  • Amid a slowing economy, can we expect more tax cuts?
