With the hybrid series 'Green Solutions from Germany', GCC aims to promote the concept of responsible use of resources in every aspect of our daily lives, both as an integral part of our business philosophy and as global citizens.

Event schedule and topics in this sustainability series:

  • Becoming Carbon Neutral – A Joint Effort by Industry & Policy Makers (25 May 2021)
  • PreZero – Making Waste Management a Strategic Business Unit (23 June 2021)
  • Purpose Strategy: An Embedded ESG Approach (14 July 2021)
  • Green CapEx: An Overview of Funding Sources in Hong Kong (18 August 2021)
  • Making Cities and Buildings Smarter, More Sustainable and the Best Place to Live (15 September 2021)
  • Sustainability From a Financier's View: Role of Sustainable Finance in Accelerating the Paris Climate Goals (20 October 2021)
  • Circular Economy and How the Chemical Industry Plays a Key Role to Enabling it (Mid-November 2021)

With 55 global banks having signed up to the Net Zero Banking Alliance and a booming Sustainable Finance market that saw USD 680 billion in issuance in the first half of this year, banks are gathering speed on the sustainability front in an effort to channel more capital into sustainable economic activities. Banks are being held responsible for the activities they finance and have an instrumental role to play to support decarbonisation of the global economy.

In this seminar, Stefan Schratz, Director - Head of German, Swiss & Austrian Clients Asia of ING Bank, will talk about the Sustainable Finance market more broadly and specifically address the role of banks in decarbonising the economy. In doing so, he will lever ING's leading position in the Sustainable Finance sector and ING's Terra Strategy to align its global loan portfolio with the Paris Climate Agreement.
