Silicon can be found in nearly every product in our modern world: As an alloying element in light-weight aluminium products for cars or packaging, as a raw material for chemical products like silicones in construction, cosmetics, and electronics, or further refined to manufacture semiconductor and solar cells. However, silicon production is energy-intensive and uses coal as a reductant. Both lead to direct and indirect CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the current recycling rate for silicon in the EU is 0%.

Circular Silicon Ltd. aims to save CO2 emissions from primary production by recycling silicon waste streams. In this webinar, Circular Silicon Ltd. will introduce their solution to build the world's first silicon recycler. Key topics include:

  • Defining silicon as a strategic raw material
  • Understanding the carbon footprint of PV energy
  • Insights into policy trends in recycling PV panels
  • Understanding the importance of recycling within a circular economy

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Manufacturers of PV panels and materials
  • Consumers of silicon i.e. chemical companies, aluminium, and semiconductors
  • Policy makers with a focus on environmental regulations
  • Industries under the green transformation, i.e. metals & mining
