AHK Open House Day: Connecting Our Community |
|
|
|
Open day, open office, open mind – that was the motto of our first ever AHK Open House Day. More than 160 interested guests joined us over the course of the entire day for insightful talks, presentations, and networking opportunities. The programme included an introduction into our agile team processes, an engaging workshop session on Agile with our partner PROAKTIV, short presentations on our service offers, as well as an insightful panel discussion on talent recruitment and retention in Hong Kong. Last, but not least, our guests had plenty of time to connect with our team and with each other. |

| Since 15 March 2023, China has resumed the issuance of all types of visa, including tourist visa for foreigners. But while travel restrictions have been gradually eased, making mobile payments in China is a challenge for short-term business visitors and tourists alike. WeChat Pay and Alipay have long replaced cash as the standard method of payment. Read the latest update by our partner GTAI on how to register for e-payments in China. |

…Hong Kong has the highest life expectancy in the world? |
| |
As of 2023, the average life expectancy for Hong Kong is estimated at 85.3 years according to the United Nations’ World Population Prospects. This puts the SAR in first place worldwide, ahead of Japan (85.0), Macao (84.7), Switzerland (84.3), and Singapore (84.1). The World Bank has been ranking Hong Kong first in life expectancy for both women and men since 2010.
Factors often associated with the increasing longevity of Hong Kong’s residents are the city’s rapid economic development throughout the 20th century, its subtropical climate with relatively few extreme weather phenomena, as well as the advanced infrastructure and public healthcare system. At the same time, however, some health experts have noted that the younger generation of Hongkongers has become more prone to unhealthy eating and living habits in recent years, not least due to the Covid-19 pandemic, increasing the overall risk of non-communicable diseases.
Since 2018, the government has been promoting the “Strategy and Action Plan to Prevent and Control NCD in Hong Kong” to lower the occurrence of non-communicable diseases with the help of nine targets, including the reduction of salt intake, tobacco use, and physical inactivity. |
